1. Does my attorney need to be present?

No, your attorney does not have to be present when you appear before the magistrate. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, an attorney may be appointed to you if you qualify. To apply for a court appointed attorney follow the instructions linked below.

2. What do I do if I am issued a citation?

On the appearance date noted on your citation, appear at the Williamson County Justice Center located at:

405 Martin Luther King Jr Street
Georgetown, TX

Upon arrival, you will be in the custody of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. An officer will complete the booking process at the Justice Center in lieu of the jail. The Magistrate Judge will inform you of your rights, the charge, and set bail. You will then be provided with your next court date and released.

3. What if I have renewed my license before my appearance date?

The magistrate will not consider your innocence or guilt. You will receive a court date to appear and answer for the underlying charge.
