Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter Offers As You Wish Adoptions

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is celebrating Valentine’s Day all week long with an homage to the classic film “The Princess Bride” with “As You Wish” adoption pricing.

Adopt any available medium-to-large adult dog and pay the As You Wish adoption fee. As the name implies, you choose whatever adoption price you wish. With 185 dogs in the shelter as of Monday, February 13th, there is sure to be a dog here to fulfill any family’s desires. Anytime you adopt, you are saving two lives – the dog who you took home and the dog who got to take her place.

Fosters are welcome if the commitment to adoption is inconceivable to you right now. Two weeks is all it takes to help the shelter through its continuing space crisis as it remains at critical capacity. If “twu wuv” follows, you can adopt your foster.

“This fun adoption promotion comes at a crucial time, as we are still overcapacity in medium-to-large adult dogs,” said Misty Valenta, animal services director. “Our hope is that people will come ‘storm the castle’ to take part in this adoption promotion and help us make much-needed room, while saving the life of their new Dread Pirate Roberts or Princess Buttercup.”

Interested adopters can preview all of the adoptable pets at the shelter by visiting wilcopets.org. Appointments are recommended to help reduce wait times at the shelter. Email [email protected] to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome from noon to 6 p.m. daily.
