Last year, the Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a $210,000 grant from the Texas Veterans Commission offering emergency financial services for veterans who live in Williamson County. A recent update has expanded the grant to help all veterans receiving disability, as well as dependents, spouses and surviving spouses.
“Our veterans have given so much for our country that we want to be able to help our veterans when they need emergency assistance. This update to our grant includes veterans receiving disability, even with a rate of 100%, or receiving individual unemployment from Veterans Affairs,” said Veteran Services Grant Coordinator Alicia Emmons.
The money from the grant will be used to help veterans with emergency assistance for rent/mortgage, burial services, utilities and food. To be eligible, veterans must have an honorable discharge or under honorable conditions. Veterans living in Williamson County can apply for the grant by filling out an application at the Veteran Services Office located inside the Georgetown Annex, 100 Wilco Way, in Georgetown.
