EMS Management and Consultants, Inc. (“EMS|MC”) recently notified Williamson County EMS of an incident that may have affected the privacy of personal information related to specifically identified patients.
On August 10, 2023, EMS|MC mailed notice letters to Williamson County EMS patients regarding the recent transition of accounts to EMS|MC as the new billing vendor for Williamson County EMS. The letter also notified the patient of any open balance for an ambulance transport. On August 14, 2023, EMS|MC discovered that, during the mailing process, the letter was inadvertently mailed to the address listed as the ambulance point of pickup rather than the home address of the patient.
Upon discovery, EMS|MC notified Williamson County EMS of this incident and is working closely with them to notify impacted individuals. While EMS|MC is unaware of any misuse of information in relation to the incident, it is providing impacted individuals with steps they may take to help protect their information should they feel it is necessary to do so.
The mis-mailed letters included the following information related to certain patients: name, medical account number, incident number, date of transport and balance due. EMS|MC is mailing notification letters to the impacted individuals for whom they have valid mailing addresses. Anyone who has not received such a letter but wishes to confirm whether they are an impacted individual may contact EMS|MC at the below dedicated toll-free call center.
EMS|MC and Williamson County EMS encourage impacted individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft by reviewing their account statements and explanation of benefits for unusual activity.
