WCRAS Invites You to Bring a Shelter Pet "Home for the Holidays"

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is excited to host its annual Home for the Holidays fostering program this year.

The holidays are a time of love, celebration, families and togetherness, so there’s no better time to invite a foster dog into your home than now. As a part of the Home for the Holidays foster program, you can pick out any medium or large dog as a foster pet through the holiday season! Fostering is a wonderful way to help the shelter by making space for new pets in need of the shelter’s help, and it’s an activity in which the whole family can participate. Giving back to the community through fostering is a gift for all, not the least of which is the dog being fostered.

Give the gift of a home, love, comfy beds and lots of extra helpings of holiday treats to a shelter pet this season while enjoying the love and affection you’ll receive in return. There will also be some tail wags, doggie kisses and barks for joy thrown in – we can guarantee that!

How does the Home for the Holidays fostering program work? It’s simple! First, sign up to become a foster for the shelter at https://www.wilcotx.gov/1301/Home-For-The-Holidays and fill out the linked New Foster Registration Form. Then you can make an appointment to come pick out the medium or large dog to take home as your Home for the Holidays foster pet! Walk-ins will also be welcomed. Fosters can choose to adopt their foster pet if it turns out that the match is the perfect fit. Otherwise, you bring the dog back to the shelter once the holidays are over. The program runs from Nov. 17, 2023, through Jan. 2, 2024.
