Corridor C / SH 29 Bypass Project Begins

Corridor C Groundbreaking

Williamson County and the City of Georgetown came together to celebrate the groundbreaking for the Corridor C / SH 29 Bypass project.

This project will connect Sam Houston Avenue at Patriot Way east to SH 29. The first phase of the project includes the construction of a two-lane road from Sam Houston Avenue at Patriot Way to SH 29 with a bridge over SH 130. Construction is anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2026.

“This expansion is vital to keep the people of Georgetown safe and on the move,” said Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles. "Parents should spend dinner with their families, not stuck in traffic.”

"Corridor C is the last important step in a long-term plan to create an alternative to University Avenue in Georgetown. That effort started many years ago with Southeast Inner Loop and continued with Sam Houston Avenue and the Southwest Bypass,” said Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder. “Corridor C is the last link for an east-west bypass to Hwy. 29. While only the first phase of the eventual freeway design, this road will provide a more desirable alternate route for traffic to avoid the busy downtown section of University Avenue and improve mobility in our city."

The design engineer is Atkins North America, and the contractor is Capitol Excavation Company. The construction cost of the project is $30,540,848.03 and is funded through the county’s voter-approved 2019 Road Bond with the City of Georgetown contributing funding not to exceed $4 million in construction costs.
