The Williamson County Veteran Services Office wants Veterans to know that they now have more time to file or submit their intent to file for PACT Act benefits. The U.S. Department of Affairs has announced that Veterans who apply or submit their intent to file by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, or 10:59 p.m. Central Time, by Monday, August 14, 2023, will have their benefits backdated to August 10, 2022. The original deadline was Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
The PACT Act is a new law that expands benefits for Veterans who were exposed to burn pits, agent orange, other toxic substances, and adds coverage for a longer list of presumptive conditions. The PACT Act was signed into law on August 10, 2022, by President Joe Biden.
The Williamson County Veterans Office encourages all Veterans and their survivors to apply or submit their intent to file for PACT ACT benefits online at Your Intent To File A VA Claim | Veterans Affairs. Veterans who need help can come into the Williamson County Veteran Services Office, 100 Wilco Way, in Georgetown, Thursday, August 10, or Friday, August 11, with their DD-214 forms. The office will accommodate walk-ins during its regular office hours of 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
