Volunteers maintaining Donahue Cemetery in SchwertnerEstablished 1877

Schwertner, settled in 1877 by Bernard Schwertner and family, a village in rich farming country already established when Bartlett and Western built through it. Postmasters were Gustav A. Matejowsky (August 30, 1912), Earl R. Wallace (1914), Mary L. Duncan (1916), Judson M. Roebuck (1919), William O. Matejowsky (1920), Joseph Tomecek (1926), Mildred I. Tomecek (1957). The school consolidated with Bartlett in 1954.
