East Wilco Highway

Location: East / west travel between SH 130 and FM 3349 and north/south travel to U.S. 79 in Precinct 4

Description: Williamson County conducted a study to consider connections for east/west travel between SH 130 and FM 3349 and north/south travel to U.S. 79. The schematic was completed in spring 2020, and right-of-way acquisition is underway. As part of the Southeast Loop Study, the FM 3349 at U.S. 79 project was identified and proposed due to the need for a grade-separated crossing over the Union Pacific Railroad and U.S. 79. Status: A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 30, at The Bridge Church. A ribbon cutting was held for the opening of the new road from CR 138 at Dana Dr. to CR 137 on Oct. 18, 2023. The CR 137 to CR 404 segment is under design and the County is actively pursuing construction funding.

Please note: The first phase of this project is a two to three-lane road with one lane in each direction and potentially a center turn lane, as shown on the Interim Schematics. As traffic requires, a second frontage road, which will create divided lanes for each direction, and main lanes will be added if the County continues to grow and the need arises.

Please note: These are the ultimate roadway schematics. The first phase of this project is a two to three lane road: one lane in each direction and potentially a center turn lane, as shown on the Interim Schematics. Construction on the first phase of the frontage road is expected to begin late spring 2021 between SH 130 and CR 137. Future phases of construction will include the first phase, Interim Schematic, from CR 137 to the east. As traffic requires, a second frontage road, which will create divided lanes for each direction, and main lanes will be added if the County continues to grow and the need arises.
