Ronald Reagan Corridor Planning

Location: Five segments along existing Ronald Reagan Boulevard starting at RM 2243 and ending at I-35 in Precincts 2 and 3.

Description: The County is planning for the future corridor of Ronald Reagan Boulevard between RM 2243 and I-35, which is expected to be an ultimate eight-lane controlled-access roadway.

The only portion of the Ronald Reagan Boulevard that has construction funding is within the limits of SH 29 and FM 3405. This portion will look to construct a separate two-lane road to serve as the southbound frontage road of the ultimate eight-lane roadway and switch the existing roadway to a northbound only roadway, with a divided median. More information is available on that project page. Ultimately, as the county grows and funding is secured, the remaining roadway will be built, resulting in a controlled access roadway. This portion of the Ronald Reagan Project is a part of the County's Long-Range Transportation Plan and was funded through the voter-approved 2013 Road Bond.

Ronald Reagan Corridor Planning Segment A (RM 2243 and SH 29)

• Project Limits and Length: 3.7 miles from RM 2243 to SH 29
• Status: The engineer, LJA Engineering, is working on planning for the roadway, which is anticipated to be complete in summer 2023.

Ronald Reagan Widening Segment B (SH 29 and north of FM 3405)

• Project Limits and Length: 7 miles from SH 29 to north of FM 3405
• Status: A temporary traffic signal is now active at Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Santa Rita Boulevard to help with increased vehicle traffic in the area. Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2023 and last until fall 2025.

Ronald Reagan Corridor Planning Segments C (FM 3405 and Williams Drive)

• Project Limits and Length: 3.7 miles from FM 3405 and Williams Drive
• Status: The engineer, Volkert, Inc., is working on planning for the roadway, which is anticipated to be complete in summer 2023.

Ronald Reagan Corridor Planning Segment D (Williams Drive and SH 195)

• Project Limits and Length: 5 miles from Williams Drive to SH 195
• Status: The engineer, Rodriguez Transportation Group, completed the schematic in summer 2023.

Ronald Reagan Corridor Planning Segment E (SH 195 and IH-35)

• Project Limits and Length: 6 miles from SH 195 to IH-35
• Status: The engineer, Pape Dawson, is working on designing the planning for the roadway, which is anticipated to be complete in summer 2023.
