At the Dec. 12, 2023, meeting of the Williamson County Commissioners Court, Bill Zito was named senior director of Emergency Services. This position is over four county emergency response divisions: Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Communications, Emergency Management and the Fire Marshal’s Office.  

 Bill Zito has served our nation faithfully for all of his life. He is an Army veteran who continued to serve in federal government for many, many years. We are extremely fortunate that he now desires to work in the county he also calls home. 

 Zito has aBill.Zito 01-2024 master’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University and a master’s in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University. Previously, Zito served as the emergency management director for the city of Hutto and as the Williamson County liaison officer for the Texas Division of Emergency Management. Prior to that, Zito served as the deputy chief of staff for FEMA and later the assistant administrator of National Continuity Programs.  

 Zito has extensive experience serving the federal government as chief of staff for Representative Pete Olson (TX-22) and Representative Kay Granger (TX-12), as well as deputy chief of staff for Representative John Carter (TX-31). He is a U.S. Army veteran who retired as a command sergeants major after 23 years of service.

I will serve this county with the integrity, dedication and competence our residents expect and deserve,” said Zito.
